Families are children’s first teachers and essential to promoting social and emotional learning (SEL) throughout a child’s life. -CASEL 

The MDE, in partnership with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, created Social and Emotional Learning Kits for children in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. The kits contain materials that allow children to address the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning’s (CASEL) five core competencies and their corresponding state standards. In addition, each kit includes activity cards that guide families around how to engage their children as they explore the kits together. The kits are located in designated local libraries and district parent engagement centers to allow access and repeated use.
